Celebrating Lunar New Year 2021
It’s almost time to celebrate Lunar New Year! 2021 is the year of the ox, an animal that represents strength, determination, diligence, and dependability. Traits that we can all use right now, in this post-pandemic world!
We reached out to Epicure Leader Amy Wong to see how her family is celebrating this year, and how she uses her favourite Epicure products to bring family traditions to the table.
How will you be celebrating Chinese/Lunar New Year this year?
Amy: Chinese New Year will look quite different this year. We usually celebrate together with my parents, siblings, nephews, and nieces. It may only be us four this year, but we will definitely still follow the fun and festive traditions—lucky red envelopes on New Year’s Eve and on New Year’s Day, the boys will wear traditional clothing, and we’ll clean and decorate the house with lucky sayings and ornaments. And last, but not least...food! Lots of delicious food to ring in the new year! This year, I'll be making Epicure's Beef & Broccoli, Crispy & Crunchy Lettuce Wrap, steamed lobster, seasoned with Sea Salt, Black Pepper and Roasted Garlic, and Lemon Berry Tarts (with Epicure's new Lemon Curd)...not traditional at all, but we LOVE IT!
How does Epicure help you cook your family’s favourite meals?
Amy: I have 2 growing boys (10 and 12) who eat like teenagers! They are constantly hungry! I love the ease of Epicure's Meal Solutions! Most only take 20 minutes or less, from raw to ready! Can't beat that. The best part is how versatile these Meal Solutions are! I use proteins and vegetables that my family loves and lots of times, it's what's available in the fridge. So even if I use the same Meal Solution, it can taste different each time with different combinations of proteins and vegetables—always a winner! When it's so easy to make such tasty dishes, the family likes to help, so we cook together and eat together.
