How to Survive Spring Break with Kids
Spring break is just around the corner, and while you may be dreaming of a tropical getaway, the reality is that many of us will be spending it at home with the kids. But fear not! Here are three strategies (and some yummy recipes) that will help you survive spring break at home with your little ones:
#1: Make a Plan
Kids love having a say in what they do, and spring break is the perfect time to plan together. Jot down their ideas for activities, places to visit, and friends to see. Even downtime is okay! Then, build a schedule for the week and write it down so they can see their ideas have been put into action.
#2: Theme Days
Let’s make “I’m bored!” a thing of the past! Create a schedule of theme days to break up the monotony of the regular routine. The possibilities are endless, and it's a great way to make Spring Break feel extra special! Here are a few of our favourite theme days:
Backwards Day:
Have cake for breakfast and breakfast for dinner. Wear your clothes backwards and say everyone’s name backwards all day. You get the idea!

Camping Day:
Set up a tent in your living room or backyard, sing campfire songs, go for a walk or scavenger hunt outside, and make smores!
Living Room Drive-In Movie:
Set up “cars” in the living room made from any cardboard boxes you have on hand. Let each kid decorate their own, and use paper plates for the wheels! Of course, the drive-in is complete without the best bites!
#3: Cook Together
Cooking is a seriously stellar way to keep kiddos busy and productive at home. Beyond familiarizing them with kitchen basics, making meals together teaches math skills, healthy habits, and sparks creativity!
